1. IS YOUR LEAGUE AN NFL FLAG LEAGUE?
The NFL FLAG stamp of approval is the ultimate sign of quality. With 1,600 locally operated leagues and over 500,000 youth athletes, NFL FLAG is the largest, most recognized flag football organization in the U.S.—and the only one where players wear official NFL gear. 2. WHO CAN PLAY?
SHIFT NFL Flag Football is co-ed and offered to boys and girls ages 5 to 18 years old (Exact ages vary by location). From beginners to seasoned players, all skill levels are welcome! Teams compete in a 5 v 5 format, with a maximum of 10 players on each team.
3. WHERE ARE TEAMS LOCATED?

4. DOES YOUR LEAGUE PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY AT THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT EITHER PRO BOWL OR SUPER BOWL?
NFL FLAG hosts the largest and most high profiled flag football tournaments in the country. By playing in an NFL FLAG league, you get an exclusive opportunity for a chance to punch your way into one of these prestigious events.
5. WHAT'S INCLUDED WITH MY REGISTRATION?
Your registration secures your spot on a team for the entire season, and each team receives official NFL gear, including a jersey and flag belt. In fact, NFL FLAG is the only flag football league that allows players to wear officially licensed NFL gear.
6. WHAT ARE THE NFL FLAG RULES?
NFL FLAG is a non-contact sport. There’s no diving, blocking, screening, or tackling allowed. Instead, to “tackle” the person in possession of the ball, the opposing team needs to pull one or both of their flags off. For a complete list of NFL FLAG rules, visit nflflag.com.
7. HOW ARE INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS PLACED ON TEAMS?
This is a league designed to keep children in similar grades together with as much parody as possible. Therefore, individuals are placed on teams using a multitude of criteria including but not limited to grade, ability, experience, school, and buddy request. While all of this information is collected during registration team placement based on this criterion is not guaranteed. Refunds will not be issued due to team placement.
8. HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON A TEAM?
Most teams have 8-10 players. However, we do reserve the right to stretch these guidelines if the league deems necessary.
9. WHO ARE THE COACHES?
Parents and community volunteers. SHIFT NFL Flag Football does not provide coaches. Once teams are assembled, parents and other community partners will be recruited to coach the teams. Training is provided for all parents who wish to be a coach. No experience is necessary. If we are unable to secure a coach for a particular team, that team may be refunded.
10. WHO ARE THE OFFICIALS AND ARE THEY QUALIFIED?
Most of our referees are NFL Flag certified. Each official is trained, licensed, insured and certified through the state. They are very good at what they do and will call a fair game for both sides.
11. HOW MUCH PLAYING TIME CAN MY CHILD EXPECT?
All of our programs promote participation, fun, and fundamentals. Coaches are required to fairly allocate playing time equally among all players on the team. We will do our best to assure all players receive equal playing time.
12. ARE THERE PLAYOFFS?
Playoffs vary by location. If a league location has playoffs or a championship game, it will be noted in the program description.
13. DO ALL FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYERS NEED MOUTH GUARDS?
It is absolutely mandatory that all players are wearing a mouthguard before stepping on the field.
14. HOW DO I REGISTER?
All of our registrations are taken online. Walk up registrations are not accepted.
15. WHAT IF IT RAINS ON GAME DAY? (For outside games only)
You will be notified by us (or your coach or team parent). Only SHIFT NFL Flag Football can cancel games. We will do our best to notify you of any cancellation as far in advance as possible. Please note: we do play in rain provided it is not lightening or a torrential down-pour.
We will make every effort to reschedule the game to a later date.
16. WHEN ARE PRACTICES?
This can vary by location based on field availability. Check the league description for exact practice details. In some cases, each coach is responsible for scheduling any practices and making arrangements for practice fields. In these cases, any additional fees for practice fields are the responsibilty of the coach and team.
